Academic proofreading for students and academics
Welcome to Proofreading for Students. I provide a professional academic proofreading service to students and academics. Whether you’re an international student or a native speaker of English, I’m happy to help.
I trained as a proofreader with the Publishing Training Centre and am a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. I have a PhD in sociolinguistics, giving me the added benefit of familiarity with reading and writing academic English.
I’m based in Sheffield in northern England but I regularly proofread for undergraduate and postgraduate students who are currently at universities across the UK.
I aim to make your English as clear as possible, enabling your essay, dissertation or thesis to be better assessed on its content. Whatever you’re currently studying, please feel free to get in touch – all subject areas are welcome.
Thesis, dissertation, essay and journal paper proofreading
The standard student proofreading service I offer involves correcting spelling, grammar and punctuation errors that would otherwise detract from the quality of your academic writing.
I include a light edit as part of the standard service and may reword parts of sentences that appear unclear or provide alternative wording where necessary, while ensuring that the work retains your style of writing.
I most frequently proofread essays, dissertations, papers and PhD theses but I’m happy to work on any type of academic document. For dissertation proofreading, I recommend booking in advance as I get very busy during the summer months.
Efficient and reliable service at an affordable cost
My student proofreading rates start at £10 per 1,000 words and I provide a full quote for the total cost before beginning proofreading your work. There are no hidden costs – the price I quote will be the price you pay.
I most frequently work on Microsoft Word documents, using track changes so you can clearly see the changes I’ve made. I’m also happy to work with PowerPoint, OpenOffice or PDF documents. If you have another type of document you’d like me to work on, please contact me and I’ll do my best to help.
If you would like me to use the BSI proof correction symbols, either on-screen on PDF proofs or on printed proofs, please let me know.
Please contact me for a no-obligation quote, either by filling in your details on the contact form opposite (you can also attach your document) or by email – firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to hearing from you.
